Jennifer Winget talks about her character of Major Monica Mehra in the web series ‘Code M Season 2’

Popular TV face Jennifer Winget is back as Major Monica Mehra in season 2 of ‘Code M’. Ekta R Kapoor’s ‘Code M’ marks Jennifer’s OTT debut. The actress who plays a psychopath Maya in ‘Beyhadh 2’ is seen as a fearless and brave Monica Mehra, the protagonist in the series which revolves around the Indian Army. Jennifer told IANS why she loves her role so much and why it is challenging. He also talked about his fitness mantra.

Jennifer shared about the challenges she faced while portraying Major Monica Mehra on screen: “I have enjoyed playing every part of this character as it is also therapeutic for me as a person. Example As for, Monica is so strong-headed and such a confident and no-nonsense kind of person. So, I sometimes take a leaf out of her book. With this character, I try to believe in who I am. So, it is equally challenging and difficult, it is also very rewarding as an actor.”

While Season 1 of ‘Code M’ saw Major Monica Mehra, an Indian Army lawyer investigating cases related to the murder of Indian Army officers, Season 2 will cover a more detailed side of her character.

As she mentioned: “We all know her (Major Monica Mehra’s) commitment and love for the country. The ‘Bepnaah’ actress further spoke about her experience of working with co-actors Tanuj Virwani, Rajat Kapoor and Swanand Kirkire.

“It was just a wonderful experience. In the first season, I got a chance to work with Rajat Kapoor and Tanuj. I got to learn a lot from Mr. Kapoor. It was wonderful to work with him and Tanuj. As you know “We also become friends over time, and he’s such a wonderful person to be around. He’s full of life.”

“Every time we are working together, I am constantly laughing and I just love having positivity around me. And in season two, I got a chance to work with Swanand Kirkire and other actors, whose I can’t take names right now. So, it’s great to be in his company and learn a lot from him.”

How did you prepare yourself physically and emotionally to play such a lousy character? And she replied: “I guess it’s not just me. We all put a lot of effort from our director, producer, or action master, my co-actors, I think we all got on the same page And put in it. Equally love, heart and soul. To be able to do stunts effortlessly on screen, I had to undergo physical training. But this is the kind of preparation that I would have loved to do before any project. I am the one I start.”

“People like her, the reason why she is playing an army officer doesn’t mean she’s not fun. With Monica, you see all sides of what a normal girl would have been like. She’s got friends, she’s had a troubled relationship. And then there’s this other side to her, which is this strong feminist, female army officer who believes in herself.”

“I think every woman can relate to these two sides of her because every woman has these two sides where they perform these duties that are given to them so hard, plus they don’t forget to have fun So, I take a lot from Monica and I enjoy both ways and I am diligent at work too.”

Playing such a fiery character, one needs to focus on physical strength and ask her fitness mantra, she revealed: “My fitness mantra is to stay healthy, not just stick to one type of exercise or diet. Being or going on these crazy diets. I don’t believe it. I believe in staying healthy. I’m not a gym fanatic. I love yoga, my pilates, horse riding, swimming, I love doing outdoor sports like these. They Allow me to be in nature because we don’t get to do that often in the city. Whatever workout I do, I’m in tune with it. And just stick to it and enjoy it.”

You’ve been surrounded by controversies and at times got involved with your co-actors, how do you deal with it, and he replied sternly: “I don’t just deal with it. It’s a part of the profession I’m in.” My family and friends know my truth and my fans know my truth and that’s what matters to me.”

After receiving so much love and praise for her character in the series, she says: “I am grateful because to play a character from the armed forces, there is a lot of responsibility, and a lot of expectations. And to do so , and being able to receive as much love from people as they have given me over the years is just so encouraging. And I feel extremely blessed,” she concluded.

Along with Jennifer, Tanuj Virwani and Swanand Kirkire will also be seen in lead roles in ‘Code M’ Season 2.
