Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin will take 90-year-old ‘Star Trek’ actor into space – Times of India

blue original gearing up for another space Flight. And this time, it’ll have Star Trek’s Captain Kirko William Shatner in space, the space company owned by Jeff Bezos announced in a blogpost. A 90-year-old Shatner will be accompanied by Audrey Powers, Blue Origin’s vice president of Mission and Flight Operations, Chris Boshuizen, and Glenn de Vries on a Shepard NS-18 rocket on October 12.
Shatner has played Captain James T Kirk in seven Star Trek films, beginning with the 1967 television series Star Trek. This will be the first time he is going to space and with the mission, he will also become the oldest person to travel in space. The current record for being the oldest person in space is held by none other than Wally Funk, who traveled with Jeff Bezos Blue Origin’s maiden flight to space four people, including Oliver Damon, the youngest man ever to go into space.
“I have heard about space for quite some time. I am taking this opportunity to see it for myself. What a miracle,” the blog post quotes William Shatner.
Audrey Powers, Blue Origin executive, oversees all New Shepard flight operations, vehicle maintenance, and launch, landing and ground support infrastructure. She joined Blue Origin in 2013.
The NS-18 will also carry thousands of postcards from Blue Origin’s foundation, Club for the Future.
