September 10 marks the 44th birthday of Tamil cinema’s beloved star, Jayam Ravi, a name that has been lighting up the silver screen for over two decades. With a career that started back in 2003 with the film Jayam, directed by his brother M Raja, Ravi has built an impressive repertoire, acting in everything from romantic comedies to intense thrillers and grand historical dramas.
The actor’s talent knows no bounds and he’s now known for effortlessly stepping into any character. Beyond acting, Ravi is also trained in the classical dance form Bharatanatyam. In addition to his dance background, Jayam Ravi has skills in martial arts.

He is joined by Priya Bhavani Shankar, Tanya Ravichandran and Hareesh Peradi. The film’s soundtrack is by Sam CS and it was produced by Screen Scene Media Entertainment.
- Ponniyin Selvan: IIThis 2023 epic historical action drama, directed by Mani Ratnam, continues the story from Ponniyin Selvan: I (2022). The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1954 novel Ponniyin Selvan and features a star-studded cast, including Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha and of course, Jayam Ravi. It revolves around the Chola Empire and follows the journey of Prince Arulmozhi Varman, played by the actor.
- IraivanIraivan is a 2023 Tamil action thriller directed by I Ahmed and produced by Passion Studios. The film sees Jayam Ravi starring alongside Nayanthara, Narain and Rahul Bose. Ravi playing the role of ACP Arjun IPS in this one.
- SirenReleased in February this year, this action thriller is directed by Antony Bhagyaraj. The film stars Jayam Ravi, Keerthy Suresh, Anupama Parameswaran and Yogi Babu. It has Jayam Ravi portraying Thilagavarman, a former ambulance driver who becomes a prisoner. After 14 years, he is granted parole to visit his dying father and daughter in Kanchipuram.

- BrotherThis Tamil romantic comedy is directed by M Rajesh and is set for an October 31, 2024 release, coinciding with Diwali. The movie stars Jayam Ravi and Priyanka Mohan in the lead roles, with music composed by Harris Jayaraj. The film was announced in 2022 and is Ravi’s 30th movie.
- GenieGenie is a fantasy comedy film, directed by debutant Bhuvanesh Arjunan. Ravi stars in the titular role alongside Krithi Shetty, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Wamiqa Gabbi. Filming for the movie had reportedly started in 2023.
- Kadhalikka NeramillaiA romantic comedy directed by Kiruthiga Udhayanidhi, Kadhalikka Neramillai stars Jayam Ravi and Nithya Menen. The film is produced by Red Giant Movies and was officially announced in late 2023.
