Cyclonic storm ‘Jawad’ is likely to weaken even before hitting the Puri coast. According to the latest update of the Meteorological Department (IMD), cyclonic storm Jawad is expected to hit the coast of Puri by Sunday 05 December afternoon. Due to the storm, the weather activity continues in Odisha, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. As per IMD’s forecast, Odisha, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh will receive heavy rains today i.e. on 05 December.

Weakening Cyclonic Storm Jawad According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm ‘Jawad’ has weakened into a deep depression. It is expected to reach Puri by Sunday afternoon. It is believed that it may weaken even before reaching Puri. The weakening of cyclonic storm Jawad is news of relief for Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal.

The Meteorological Department (IMD) is keeping a close watch on Cyclone Jawad. The IMD has issued an alert of heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in West Bengal along the banks of the Ganges and in northern Odisha on Sunday. Apart from this, heavy rain is forecast at different places in Assam, Meghalaya and Tripura on 6th December i.e. Monday. Explain that in view of the impact of Cyclone Jawad, 64 teams of NDRF were deployed in Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. At the same time, it was decided to cancel many trains of these states till December 5.

UGC-NET exam canceled
UGC-NET exam scheduled on 5th December (December 2020 and June 2021) has been canceled due to the red alert issued in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. It has been rescheduled. Its revised datasheet will be uploaded later.

IIFT exam will also be rescheduled
Simultaneously, the entrance examination of MBA (IB) 2022-24 of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade to be held on December 5 in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur, Cuttack (Odisha) and Kolkata, Durgapur (West Bengal) has been postponed. Has also been rescheduled. Its date will be released once again.

Alert declared in 14 districts of Odisha
Alert has been issued in 14 coastal districts of Odisha. The state plans to deploy 266 rescue teams along the southern coast. These include NDRF, State Fire Department and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) of Odisha.

In view of the threat of Cyclone Jawad, the Odisha government has decided to postpone the 12th International Sand Art Festival. The festival was being organized near the famous Konark temple. It is also called Konark Festival. In this, sand artists from all over the country participate and make different types of artworks.

Andhra Pradesh CM gave instructions
A storm alert has been issued in Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh. CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy spoke to the DMs of these districts on Thursday and directed them to take preventive measures. The storm is expected to reach Visakhapatnam by Saturday evening.

Heavy rain expected in West Bengal
There is also a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the coastal areas of West Bengal. In Kolkata, one team each has been deployed in 2, South 24 Parganas, North 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, West Midnapore, Hooghly and Nadia districts.

What does Jawad mean?
Jawad is an Arabic word. It means generous or kind. Therefore, it is believed that the storm will not be very dangerous. However, the IMD has predicted a maximum wind speed of 100 kilometers per hour on the morning of December 4. According to media reports, this storm has been named on the suggestion of Saudi Arabia. People had to face a lot of difficulties due to the Amfan cyclone that came last year.
