Jasprit Bumrah only significant rise among Indians as others dominate latest ICC T20 rankings

Dubai: Senior India opener Rohit Sharma moved up a place to 23rd in the batting list while pacer Jasprit Bumrah jumped 10 places to be at joint 24th position in the ICC Men’s T20 Rankings released on Wednesday. Pakistan captain Babar Azam’s two consecutive half-centuries t20 world cup Has helped him overtake England’s David Malan and achieve the No. 1 spot for batsmen in the latest charts.

Babar, who reached the semi-finals with 51 against Afghanistan and 70 against Namibia, is on top for the sixth time in his career. The 27-year-old had topped for the first time on January 28, 2018. He is also currently No. 1 in ODIs. Babar has 834 rating points, which puts him 36 points ahead of Malan, but Babar has a career-best 896 rating points which he achieved after scoring 65 against England in Cardiff on May 5, 2019. Malan was at the top since November 29 last year.

England’s performance in the tournament is also reflected in the rankings, with both their openers Jos Buttler and Jason Roy leading the way in the latest weekly updates. After scoring his maiden T20 century against Sri Lanka, Buttler has moved up eight places to a career-best ninth position, while Roy has moved up five places to 14th. Meanwhile, Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has topped the bowling charts for the first time in his career after taking two or three wickets in a row against South Africa and England. He replaced South Africa’s Tabrez Shamsi, who had been at the top since April 10 this year.
