Jantar Mantar protest: Freelance journalist attacks news channel’s cameraperson

A cameraperson of a leading Hindi news channel was injured after a freelance journalist was allegedly attacked on Thursday at Jantar Mantar, where farmers are protesting against the new agricultural laws, police said.

Police said the cameraperson has been identified as Nagendra Gosain. A senior police officer said Gosain was attacked by independent journalist Prabhjot Singh. Singh has been taken into custody, the official said.

Gosain said Singh was abusing and recording media persons in the morning. He said Singh also used abusive language against a woman journalist.

When other journalists protested and an altercation ensued, Singh attacked them with a tripod. He attacked me thrice, he said, injuring his hand.

Gosain said that the Medicollegal Case (MLC) has been conducted and a written complaint has been submitted at the Sansad Marg police station.
