‘Janta ko Delhi ka malik banana hai’: RWAs to be ‘mini councillors’ if AAP wins MCD polls, says Kejriwal

New Delhi: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday (November 29, 2022) said that if the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) comes to power in the upcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) will be “empowered” and given the status will be given. of “mini-councillors”. Speaking at a press conference ahead of the civic polls on 4 December, the AAP chief said the idea behind this vision was “logon ko malik banane hai (‘people have to own Delhi’)”.

Kejriwal said, “Today, we want to tell that if AAP comes to power in MCD after the municipal elections, we are really going to empower the RWAs. We will give them political and financial powers.”

He said that RWAs in Delhi will be given the status of “mini councillors”.

The civic polls are due on December 4 and both the AAP and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have expressed confidence that they will emerge victorious. The results of the MCD elections will come on December 7.

Had BJP worked in MCD, it would not have needed big campaigners for elections.

Earlier in the day, Arvind Kejriwal took a dig at the BJP and said that if the saffron party had “worked” during its rule in the city’s civic body, it would not have required so many chief ministers and Union ministers to campaign . for mcd election

“There is garbage everywhere in the city. I will clean the city when I come to power. BJP abuses me day and night. We have arranged water, we will also take responsibility for garbage disposal. Give you a chance, and We will clean the city like before.

“We will make Delhi shine,” the AAP supremo said during a door-to-door campaign in Chirag Delhi area while interacting with local residents.

Expressing confidence of victory in the MCD elections, Kejriwal said that AAP will win more than 230 seats and BJP will get less than 20 seats.

“I can see the enthusiasm among citizens and I am sure AAP will get more than 230 seats. BJP will not get more than 20 seats in MCD. We talk about the work done in Delhi government but in BJP it is difficult to tell Doesn’t have the audacity to see what work he has done in MCD.

On BJP fielding chief ministers and central ministers for the party’s campaign ahead of civic polls, Kejriwal said, “I have seen BJP fielding chief ministers and many other central ministers for a municipal election.” Had they (BJP) worked in the MCD, they would not have needed so many ministers for campaigning.”

Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Piyush Goyal, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar have campaigned for BJP candidates in the past few days.

Kejriwal alleged, “And what do these ministers do? They only abuse me in their campaigns.”
