Jammu and Kashmir: In yet another crackdown on militancy in the Valley, security forces on Thursday arrested two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist associates in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district and also recovered arms and ammunition from their possession. According to the police, security forces had set up a Mobile Vehicle Checkpoint (MVCP) at Fretihar Waripora intersection following specific information about the movement of terrorists in Frestihar Kreeri village.

A police spokesman said two suspects approaching the crossing tried to flee on seeing the security personnel, but were cleverly caught.

The arrested terrorists have been identified as associates of Lashkar.

During the search of both, two Chinese pistols, two magazines and 15 rounds of pistol were recovered. He was immediately taken into custody, he added. The arrested accused were identified as LeT terrorist associates, Suhail Gulzar of Frestihar Kreeri and Waseem Ahmad Pata of Hudipora Rafiabad. He said a case has been registered against them under the Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and an investigation is underway.

Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist associate arrested in Baramulla

This comes four days after security forces arrested a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist affiliate in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on May 27. A police spokesperson had said that the security forces had placed a Mobile Vehicle Checkpoint (MVCP) at Shranj crossing Nagbal.

He said that a person coming from Shranj towards Nagbal tried to flee on seeing the security personnel, but was cleverly caught. A grenade was recovered from him and he was immediately taken into custody, the spokesman said.
