A terrorist was killed in an encounter that broke out between terrorists and security forces in Larkipora area of Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
Two security force personnel were also injured in the encounter that started after a cordon and search operation in Padgampora area of Pulwama, a police official said.
A search operation was launched in Padgampora following information about the presence of terrorists, the official said.
The slain terrorist has been identified as Aqib Mustaq Bhat of Pulwama (A Category). ADGP Kashmir said that he initially worked for Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit, nowadays he was working with TRF and he was the killer of Sanjay Sharma.
The search operation turned into an encounter when the terrorists hiding in a house opened fire. A Naxalite was killed in retaliatory action by the security forces.
The identity and group affiliation of the slain ultras is being ascertained, the official said.
