Just a day after the Bharat Jodo Yatra ended here, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi were seen visiting two religious places of Kheer Bhawani and Hazratbal on Tuesday, a day after the Bharat Jodo Yatra ended here, officials said.
Officials said the Gandhi siblings first left their hotel here for the temple of Raganya Devi, popularly known as Mata Kheer Bhawani Temple, in Tulamula area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Accompanied by some Congress leaders, the two offered prayers at the temple situated amidst mighty Chinars, 28 km from here, he said.
The temple is a revered shrine for Kashmiri Pandits, who believe that the color of the water of the holy spring flowing below the temple indicates the status of the valley.
Although most of the colors have no special significance, black or dark color of the water is believed to be a sign of inauspicious times for Kashmir.
Later, he visited Dargah Hazratbal on the banks of the famous Dal Lake here. The dargah houses the remains of Prophet Muhammad and is deeply revered among Muslims in the valley. He said the visits were kept secret for security reasons.
