Jammu and Kashmir: 5 Lashkar terrorists killed in separate encounters

Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Adil Pare, who was recently involved in the killing of two police personnel, was neutralized in an encounter with a police team on Sunday. With this the number of militants killed in Jammu and Kashmir in the last 24 hours has gone up to five. The encounter took place in Crisbal Palpora Sangam area.

Kashmir’s Inspector General of Police (IGP), Vijay Kumar wrote on Twitter, “Gandarbal’s Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Adil Pare, who was involved in the killing of 2 JKP personnel d Hasan Dar in Sangam and Saifullah Qadri in Anchor Soura and 9 Sal was injured. -The old girl was killed in a chance encounter with a small police team. With the killing of Para, the number of terrorists killed in the last 24 hours has gone up to five and the number of militants killed in the Valley so far this year. The number went up to 100.

Meanwhile, one more terrorist was killed in Kulgam and another terrorist was killed in Pulwama on Saturday. On Sunday morning, two more terrorists were killed in the Pulwama encounter – taking the number of terrorists killed in the operation to three. Acting on specific information regarding the presence of terrorists in Drabgam village of Pulwama, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area on Saturday, a police spokesman said.

He said that as the security personnel approached the suspected spot, the terrorists hiding there fired indiscriminately at them, which was retaliated effectively, leading to an encounter. The spokesman said that in the ensuing encounter, three local militants of the outlawed Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed and their bodies were recovered from the encounter site.

They have identified the slain terrorists as Junaid Ahmed Shirgojri of Gadoora in Pulwama, Fazil Nazir Bhat of Drabgam in Pulwama and Irfan Ahmed Malik of Arbal exit in Pulwama. The spokesman said that as per police records, all three were part of groups involved in several terrorist crime cases including attacks on police and other security forces and atrocities on civilians.

He said that Shirgojri, along with his associate Abid Hussain Shah of Mongama in Pulwama, who was killed on May 30, was involved in the killing of police personnel Riyaz Ahmed at his home on May 13, he said. “He was also involved in the June 2 attack on laborers at a brick kiln in Chadoora on the outskirts of Pulwama-Budgam, in which one worker was killed and others were injured,” the spokesman said.

Incriminating material, arms and ammunition including two AK-47 rifles and a pistol were recovered from the encounter site. The spokesman said that all the recovered materials have been taken on the case record for further investigation. Kumar congratulated the security forces for carrying out the anti-terrorist operation in a professional manner and without any casualties.

He also appreciated them for tracking down and neutralizing the terrorists involved in the recent killing of police personnel in Pulwama. Earlier, the IGP said that 99 terrorists have been killed in the Valley so far this year. With the killing of mercury, this number has gone up to 100.
