Awantipora Encounter: At least two terrorists were killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Awantipora on Monday. One of the two has been identified as Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander Kaiser Koka. The identity of the second terrorist is being ascertained. Koka was involved in several terrorist activities in South Kashmir since 2018.
Earlier in a tweet, Kashmir Zone Police, quoting ADGP Vijay Kumar, wrote, “Notorious terrorist Kaiser Koka of JeM terrorist organization is trapped in an active encounter since 2018.”
Incriminating material including an American-made rifle, M-4 carbine rifle, a pistol and other weapons have been recovered.
Meanwhile, on July 6, two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists surrendered to the police and security forces after an encounter in Kulgam. According to the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the surrendered terrorists have been identified as Nadeem Abbas Bhat resident of Reshipura, Kaimoh and Kafeel Mir resident of Mirpura, Kaimoh. Both were part of the recently recruited module of Lashkar.
Based on specific inputs from JK Police about the presence of unidentified terrorists in the general area of Kulgam village Hadigam, a joint cordon and search operation was launched in the area by the Indian Army and JK Police.
