James Pattinson gets a one-match suspension for throwing a ball at Daniel Hughes during a Sheffield Shield match

Pacer James Pattinson has received a one-match ban for violation Cricket Australia’s code of conduct during the Victoria vs New South Wales match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. During the Sheffield Shield match between the two teams, Pattinson fielded the ball at follow through and threw it at the batsman – Daniel Hughes.

The New South Wales captain did not leave the crease to take a run and Pattinson’s throw hit his shin. The pacer immediately apologized for his actions but Hughes was not happy with it and threw his helmet in pain and frustration.

Pattinson was charged under Article 2.7 of CA’s code of conduct “for throwing a ball at or near a player in an improper and/or dangerous manner during a match.”

After being found guilty of a Level Two violation, he was fined 100% of the match fee for the game and a one-match suspension.

The suspension will make the senior pacer unavailable for the crucial one-day Marsh Cup match against NSW at the MCG on Friday.

Cricket Australia also posted a video of the incident on its Twitter account where fans thrashed Pattinson.

Pattinson, who announced his retirement from international cricket, was accused of breaching the code of conduct for the fourth time in the last four seasons.

Earlier, in 2019, he was found guilty of personal abuse of a player after a verbal lash at the then Queensland bowler Cameron Gannon. and suspended

Meanwhile, Pattinson has the right to appeal the decision.

Victorian captain Peter Handscomb said after the game, “He’s a fussy boy, old Patto.”

“We had a little quiet conversation, the umpire and I, just to see what they were thinking, but we’ll move on.”
