However, de-escalation is yet to be implemented. .

According to a report in Hindustan Times, their discussion agenda for this meeting is the current security situation in Afghanistan and tensions and disintegration in eastern Ladakh. The Hindustan Times report claimed that Jaishankar is likely to ease tensions with Yi in eastern Ladakh as well, as the Chinese People’s Liberation Army is ‘dragging its feet’ over the disintegration. The report further said that the dates for the 12th round of senior military commanders’ meeting would be decided after the two foreign ministers narrow down the way forward.

According to PTI, the meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers will also discuss the achievements of the organization as it celebrates the 20th anniversary of its formation this year, the Ministry of External Affairs had said in a statement earlier. The SCO was established in 2001 at a summit in Shanghai by the presidents of Russia, China, the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and is seen as a countermeasure to NATO.
