New Delhi: The India-Russia partnership is unparalleled and remains remarkably stable and strong in a world of rapid geopolitical changes, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said during bilateral talks with his Russian counterpart on Monday Sergei Lavrov,
Lavrov and Russian Defense Minister General Sergei Shoigu arrived here on Sunday night to hold the inaugural ‘2+2’ talks with his Indian counterparts.
Jaishankar and Lavrov held bilateral talks before the ‘2+2’ dialogue.

“The India-Russia partnership is unparalleled. We are very aware that in a world of rapid geopolitical change, it has indeed been remarkably stable and strong,” Jaishankar said in his inaugural address at the meeting.
“I would like to take this opportunity to underline that we are very satisfied with the state of our bilateral relations and our cooperation,” he said.
After the ‘2+2’ talks, the two Russian ministers will join President Vladimir Putin in his summit with Prime Minister Narendra Modi later in the day.
“For us, the annual India-Russia summit is a unique event. Prime Minister Modi and President Putin share a relationship of great trust and trust,” Jaishankar said.
“The annual summit is taking place after a gap of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are expecting some significant results from the summit,” Jaishankar said.
India and Russia The summit is set to sign a number of agreements to expand cooperation in key areas of defence, trade and investment, energy and technology.
At the summit as well as the inaugural ‘2+2’ Defense and Foreign Ministerial talks, the two sides are also expected to focus on the situation in Afghanistan.
