Envisioned as a child-centred, innovative, toy-based learning experience that will strengthen conceptual understanding among learners aged 3-8 years, “Jadoo Pitara” is designed to promote “learning through play”. Designed on the motto, as envisaged in it. New National Education Policy (NEP).

“The Magic Box which includes playbooks, toys, puzzles, posters, flash cards, storybooks, worksheets as well as exhibits depicting local culture, social context and languages ​​is designed to pique curiosity and accommodate diverse needs of learners at a grassroots level is designed for. Developed under the National Curriculum Framework (NCF), Pitara is available in 13 Indian languages, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said at the launch.

“It is a giant leap towards enriching the learning-teaching environment and making it more child-centred, vibrant and joyful for the Amrit generation, as envisaged in the NEP,” he added.

Pradhan said that as a national think-tank, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) should leverage technology to translate the content in the “Jadui Pitara” in all Indian languages ​​to expand its reach and Efforts should be made to make it available to SCERT. “These resources should be made available digitally on the DIKSHA platform – portal and mobile app. All basic teaching material should be in the mother tongue,” said the minister.

He said that NCERT has developed a handbook for teachers mapping the objectives of the curriculum for future training of teachers at the grassroots level.

The NEP 2020 envisages a “5+3+3+4” curriculum academic structure. The Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education has constituted a National Steering Committee under the chairmanship of K Kasturirangan to develop the NCF for each stage.

NCF for Foundational Stage (FS) was launched by the Ministry of Education last year and as per the curriculum framework, NCERT has developed and collected Learning-Teaching Materials (LTM). Accordingly, the LTM for the foundation phase was launched on Monday, using the concept of a “magic box”.

The “magic box” recommends learning and development in five areas – physical development, socio-emotional and moral development, cognitive development, language and literacy development, aesthetic and cultural development. Positive learning habits are included as another area of ​​development at this stage.
