Pulwama: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday (May 7) said that they have averted a major tragedy as security forces arrested a terror associate in Pulwama and recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing around 5 to 6 kg. . According to the police, the arrested terrorist associate has been identified as Ishfaq Ahmad Wani, a resident of Argaam in Pulwama.

The police further said that a case has been registered in this regard and further investigation is underway. “Pulwama Police averted a major tragedy by nabbing a terrorist associate Ishfaq Ahmed Wani r/o Arigam Pulwama and recovering an IED (approx 5-6 kg) on ​​his disclosure. A case has been registered and investigation has started,” said the police.

Operation Trinetra underway

Meanwhile, a massive combing operation to nab Maoists in Jangli Kandi area of ​​Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district entered the third day on Sunday. No fresh contact has been established with the hiding terrorists so far.

Earlier on May 5, five jawans were killed in a blast triggered by terrorists during an anti-terrorist operation by the army in Kandi forest area of ​​Rajouri district. A terrorist was also killed in Rajouri as a group of terrorists attacked civilians in Dhangari village. During this operation, an officer of Major rank was injured.
