ITBP Jawan Killed In Naxalites Attack Near Polling Station In Chhattisgarh

 

A major IED blast in Chhattisgarh’s Gariaband district killed a ITBP jawan on Friday. The incident took place near the polling station. The ITBP personnel has been recognised as Joginder Singh.

Reportedly, naxalites tartgeted the polling team near Bade Gobra village who was escorted by security personnel while they were coming back from election duty. According to the police reinforcement was rushed to the spot.

According to IG Raipur Range Arif Sheikh, the blast took place when the polling party were returning from the polling station.

Polling for the second phase of the Chhattisgarh elections took place in 70 assembly constituencies out of the total 90 in the state on Friday. The first phase of elections was held on November 7.

“IED blast was carried out by the naxals targeting the polling party when they were returning from Bade Gobra polling station. ITBP head constable Joginder Singh died in the blast. The polling party and EVM machine reached Gariaband safely.,” IG Raipur Range Arif Sheikh was quoted as saying.
