Italian PM Meloni Pulls Biden Back At G7 Summit, Video Goes Viral

A viral video on social media shows US President Joe Biden appearing to wander away from fellow leaders at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Italy, only to be gently redirected by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

During a skydiving demonstration on Thursday, a clip captured the 81-year-old President appearing to lose focus and wander away from the group of world leaders. He then turned to his left and approached an officer who was packing a parachute, giving the man a thumbs-up.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stepped in to steer him back to the main proceedings. Subsequently, the two leaders posed for a photo opportunity, during which Biden casually donned his iconic aviator sunglasses.

The video circulated widely on social media, igniting debate. Some questioned Biden’s suitability for another term, while others noted that the video lacked context, highlighting that Biden, along with several other leaders, was observing the man packing the parachute.

Andrew Bates, White House Senior Deputy Press Secretary, defended the president by stating that the clip had been distorted. ‘He was congratulating one of the divers and giving a thumbs up,’ Bates clarified on X.

Another unusual moment involving Biden occurred at the G7 summit. Previously, a video captured the US President awkwardly saluting Meloni before departing the stage.
