IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on Saturday held a review meeting of various projects under MEIT, including the super computing project run by CDAC. Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajiv Chandrashekhar was also present in the review meeting.

“Had a review meeting with my colleague Shri @rajeev_mp on CDAC & National Supercomputing Mission & other programs & services @GoI_MeitY with @SecretaryMEITY & other officials,” Vaishnav said in his tweet. The meeting was also attended by Secretary Rajendra Kumar, CEO of MyGov and Abhishek Singh, President and CEO of National e-Governance, Neeta Verma, Director General, National Informatics Centre, Onkar Rai, Director General, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI).

Vaishnav replaced senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, who was holding the electronics and IT portfolios since 2014. The new minister took charge on 8 July.

The bureaucrat-turned-politician holds a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communication engineering from Jai Narayan Vyas University and a master’s degree in industrial management and engineering from IIT Kanpur. Rajeev Chandrashekhar is a graduate in Electrical Engineering from Manipal Institute of Technology. He completed his Masters in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Chicago in 1986. Chandrashekhar has actively participated in the issues of communication, data protection, net neutrality etc. as a Member of Parliament.
