IT in Delhi, Bombay and Kanpur offer paid internship to Ladakh students, Sponsored M.Tech

In order to provide better opportunities to the students of Ladakh, the UT administration has collaborated with IITs in Delhi, Bombay and Kanpur. Under this collaboration, students will get internship as well as chance to award MTech degree, which will be sponsored by the UT administration.

This opportunity is for the students of Ladakh who are currently pursuing graduate level course in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) subjects.

Students selected for short term and long term internship will be paid a consolidated scholarship of Rs 15000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. Students selected for M.Tech programs will be paid a scholarship of Rs 25,000 per month

Students will have the option to choose short term internship of 1.5 to 2 months duration, long term internship of six months duration, two years MTech programme. A total of 30 seats for short term internship, 15 seats for long term internship and 12 seats for M Tech program are available in the three IITs.

The selection of students for short term internship will be done on the basis of their application, however for long term internship and MTech selection will be based on application as well as online interview.

The administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh is planning to set up an engineering college in the Union Territory.

Prof Shantanu Roy, Dean Academics, IIT Delhi and Program Coordinator, said, “All three IITs have come together in this endeavor to increase the interest level and opportunities amongst Ladakh students in STEM subjects. We hope that this joint effort of IITs will help in augmenting skilled manpower in UTs in STEM disciplines.
