‘It Gives You Perspective’: Injured Mohammed Shami Shares Post on Social Media After Getting Ruled Out of Bangladesh ODIs

Chieftain India Fast bowler Mohammed Shami shared a post on social media after being ruled out of the ODI series against Bangladesh. Shami suffered a shoulder injury during a training session ahead of the first ODI in Dhaka on December 4. control board for Cricket Umran Malik was named as the senior fast bowler’s replacement for the ODI series in India. However, there is no clarity on whether Shami will return for the Test series, which will be a part of World Test Championship.

Shami posted a note on social media in which he said that injuries have always given him a perspective and helped him to come back even stronger.

“Injury, in general, teaches you to appreciate every moment. I’ve had my share of injuries throughout my career. It’s polite. It gives you perspective. It doesn’t matter how many times I get hurt, I learn from that injury and come back even stronger,” Shami wrote on Twitter

Shami, 33, is a key figure in India’s plans, especially with the ODI World Cup less than 12 months away. Also, if he is not fit in time for the Test against Bangladesh, it will be a major blow to India’s quest to make it to the final of the World Test Championship in June 2023.

The BCCI has issued a statement saying that Shami is under the supervision of the NCA medical team.

“Fast bowler Mohd. Shami suffered a shoulder injury during a training session in the lead-up to the ODI series against Bangladesh. He is currently under observation of the BCCI medical team at the NCA, Bengaluru and will miss the three-match series.

The All India Senior Selection Committee has selected Umran Malik in place of Shami.

The first two ODIs between Bangladesh and India will take place on December 4 and 7 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur, Dhaka. The third ODI, which was earlier scheduled to be held in Dhaka, will now take place on December 10 at the Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) in Chattogram.

All ODI matches, which are not part of the ODI World Cup Super League, will be day-night matches from 12 noon local time.
