Income tax officials reached the news laundry office for action.
The IT team reached the office of online portal News Laundry and News Click on Friday. IT took this action to check tax evasion. However, this action by the Income Tax Department has been called Survey instead of Red.
IT officials said that different teams of the department are checking the premises of News Laundry and News Click. A news laundry employee said that the IT officer had come to the office around 11.30 am on Friday. He had asked the staff not to use mobile phones.

The IT department confirmed the arrival of the officers at the offices of both the websites. Department officials are checking the books of accounts related to both the portals. According to the news agency, Friday’s action was taken to investigate the tax payment and other payments of both the institutions.

NewsClick and its founders were raided by the ED in February in a money laundering case following an FIR by the Delhi Police. The company was accused of receiving foreign direct investment (FDI) of Rs 9.59 crore from US-based Worldwide Media Holdings in the financial year 2018.
