Issued in public interest: Multiplexes have a tough time implementing Rs. 100 ticket prices for Inauguration Day?

The makers of Janhit Mein Jaari had adopted a unique approach to attract the audience to the theaters to watch the film. On its opening day, i.e. June 10 when the film released, the makers said that the ticket will be available for just Rs. 100 in all cinemas- both single screen and multiplex. However, multiplex chains have reportedly recovered due to this decision.

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, multiplex owners are confused as to how to implement it across the country. A source said, “All the multiplex chains and makers are thinking how to implement this. So far, it seems that in all theaters India This will not be an offer. Some cinemas can actually sell tickets for Rs. 100 for the whole day, while some cinemas, meanwhile, cost Rs. 100 only for shows before 12:00 PM. Some theater tickets cost Rs. 100 only for the front 2 or 3 rows. Talks are on and a clear picture will emerge by Wednesday. The makers are trying their best to convince all the theaters to sell tickets for Rs. 100 for all the shows on the first day.”

The source further added, “Some cinemas in our country are located in elite areas and attract elite customers. In addition, some theaters typically only have recliners or sofa seats. Ticket price in these theaters starts from Rs. 400 or Rs. 500. Such cinema halls will not reduce the ticket price by Rs. 100 to show continued in the public interest.”

A senior official of the multiplex chain told the portal, “Talks are on. Ideally, producers cannot fix ticket prices. When such offers are launched, there are a lot of misunderstandings. Maybe some theater tickets cost as much as Rs. 100. In such cinemas, some guests get upset and argue that when the makers have announced that the film will be sold at Rs. 100, why is that special cinema charge Rs. 200? This creates a strange scenario. If they wanted to have some lucrative plan, they could have told us that they were reducing their distributor share and theaters could sell tickets at discounted prices accordingly.

Well, it makes us wonder if it would be possible to keep the ticket price up to Rs. 100 for all cinemas across the country!
