FC Goa beat Kerala Blasters 3-1 in their Hero Indian Super League match here on Sunday.

Goals from Iker Gwarotxena, Noah Sadaoui and Ridim Tlang helped Gaurs end their four-game winning run in the ISL as they leapfrogged Odisha FC to fifth and four points ahead of seventh-placed Bengaluru FC .

Meanwhile, the Blasters suffered consecutive defeats in the ISL for the first time since October.

In the opening half hour, Kerala Blasters were unable to test the rival keeper while their own shot-stopper Prabhsukhan Gill was forced to make solitary saves. Just after the half-hour mark, Brandon Fernandes won a penalty following contact with Sourav Mondal in the box.

For his seventh goal of the season, Gvarotxena went straight down the middle to score from the spot kick.

Ten minutes before the break, Gill came running out of his penalty area to get the ball first, but was flicked on by Sadaoui before his shot was blocked by Ruivah Hormipam.

Three minutes later the Moroccan got his goal when he pounced on Sandeep Singh’s poor pass, beat Hormipum, and opened his body to cross Gill to double the home side’s advantage .

In the second half, Kerala Blasters opened the scoring with Dimitrios Diamantakos scoring in the 51st minute. Adrian Luna was the creator, whipping in a free kick from the left flank as the Greek striker found the ball from close range.

But FC Goa struck the decisive touch in the 69th minute to deflect the Blasters. On counter, Brandon held the ball as Sadaoui made a dummy run to draw away defenders, opening up space for Tlang down the right. The substitute stepped into the box and smashed his way past Gill’s pass.
