Ras Al Khaimah is situated in the North of United Arab Emirates (UAE) and offers a variety of food options, even for vegetarians.

As a vegetarian, it does get a tad bit difficult to get your way around a menu internationally. Although with the onset of the vegan lifestyle globally, there are healthier and vegetarian-friendly options available for those who don’t indulge in meaty food. When I traveled to Ras Al Khaimah, I did have my doubts about the veg-friendly menu. Given I had heard a lot about the kababs and the biryanis in the UAE, I didn’t know what to expect in Ras Al Khaimah. Turns out, walking into the gorgeous land with minimal idea blew me away.

Not only does the land have a host of dishes on its menu for the vegetarian palette but it also is oh-so-delicious. For example, the Beach House Restaurant at the  Mövenpick Resort in Al Marjan Island serves one of the best salads I’ve had in Ras Al Khaimah. The Local Rocket, Dates, Fresh Figs Salad bowl which was filled with crisp roasted almonds, feta cheese, and pomegranate dressing was my favourite. Their Quattro Formaggio pizza was delicious as well.

Even the 1484 by Puro restaurant, which is situated on the top of Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah, offers a good spread for vegetarians. But personally, I enjoyed their desserts more.

Several restaurants and chefs in Ras Al Khaimah are also open to special requests by the guests. They not only consider your allergies while plating up the dish the guest has asked for but also, sometimes, offer to put together a meal that will suit your palette better. All you have to do is ask.

Given that several South Asians are living in and around Ras Al Khaimah, one can also find local food outlets that serve vegetarian and even Indian cuisine. Ras Al Khaimah boasts of luxurious resorts that usually serve a few vegetarian dishes from India. So if you are a vegetarian travelling from India, Ras Al Khaimah has you covered.
