‘Is this revenge?’: Punjab Akali Dal, BJP leaders question AAP government in the wake of bus robbery at Gun Point, Moose Wala’s death

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led government in Punjab, saying law and order has collapsed in the state.

Badal listed four incidents on Twitter – the rocket-propelled grenade attack on the police intelligence headquarters on May 9, the recent communal clashes in Patiala, the killing of singer Sidhu Moose Wala on Monday, and the hijacking of a moving bus at gunpoint – And asked whether this is the ‘Badlav’ (change) promised by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and CM Bhagwant Mann for the people of Punjab.

The SAD directly blamed CM Mann for the death of youth icon Sidhu Moose Wala. A delegation led by Badal met Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit in this regard and urged him to sack Mann from the post. He accused the CM of withdrawing the security of prominent personalities of Punjab and deputing him to Delhi for Arvind Kejriwal.

Meanwhile, a video of three armed men robbing cash at gunpoint from a PRTC bus conductor near Ladhowal toll plaza surfaced on social media on Wednesday.

When the bus going from Patiala to Amritsar reached the toll plaza, two people on a motorcycle and one on a scooter brought their vehicles parallel to the bus and started abusing the bus conductor. On protesting, the youths pointed two country-made pistols and snatched ten thousand rupees in cash and the conductor’s chain.

BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa posted a video of the incident on Twitter and took a dig at CM Mann.

Every day a new type of crime or violence is seen in Punjab. State transport bus robbed at gun point of Phillaur today! Your propaganda-centric government and the lack of concrete action by the Punjab Police have given goons a free hand in planning robberies and murders.”
