Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told CNN news agency Russia would use a nuclear deterrent on Ukraine in the event of an “existential threat”. Russia’s policy appears to be “escalate to de-escalate” and may include launching a small nuclear warhead to gain the upper hand in the war.

Russian nuclear bombers spotted near Ukraine border

In another report, UK Metro News broadcast footage of nuclear bombers in the skies over the Russia-Ukraine border. The footage shows four Russian Tu-95s, known as Bears, flying within striking distance of Ukraine over the Kaluga region.

The development comes after the Ukrainian military reportedly destroyed Russian chief Moskva. The Black Sea missile cruisers were a huge force on Putin’s naval front, overtaking the port cities of Odessa and Mariupol.

Moscow sank on Thursday after heavy damage. Ukrainian officials said their forces fired missiles at the ship.

Moscow did not admit any attack, saying only that the fire had detonated the ammunition on board.
