After becoming the only fourth Indian player to register a century in T20Is, Deepak Hooda said that he wants to emulate his IPL performance in his matches for the country.

Hooda, who made his T20I debut against Sri Lanka in February 2022, joined the likes of Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul after scoring a century against Ireland in the second T20I on Tuesday. Hardik Pandya-led India made a clean sweep over Ireland in the two-match series.

“To be honest, I was coming from a good IPL and wanted to follow up on that performance. I am happy with my intention,” Hooda said in the post-match presentation.

Player of the series, Hooda said: “I like to play that way (offensive) and these days I am batting down the order so I am getting some time.”

In his two innings against Ireland, Hooda scored 151 runs, including 104 off 57 balls in the second T20I.

Earlier this year, Hooda played for Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 IPL. He scored 451 runs in 15 matches at a strike rate of 136.67. Hooda was included in the Indian team after an impressive campaign with Lucknow.
