Iqbal, the main accused in the attack on Hindus in Bangladesh, was caught by the people of that country.

Police in Bangladesh have arrested a youth named Iqbal Hussain on suspicion of being the main culprit in a series of attacks on Hindus by Islamic extremists during the autumn festival. He was arrested around 10.30 pm local time on Thursday. To find out whether the accused is Iqbal Hussain or not, he is being taken to Comilla.

Rafikul Islam, Additional Superintendent of Police, Cox’s Bazar, said that a youth named Iqbal Hussain was arrested from Cox’s Bazar beach at around 10.30 pm on Thursday. A group of tourists from Noakhali, after seeing photographs published in the media, identified Iqbal on the beach and informed the police. The detainee was sent to Comilla in the night to find out whether the accused is Iqbal Hussain or not.




Comilla police released the picture of accused Iqbal Hussain yesterday. CCTV footage showed him leaving Quran and holding Hanuman’s mace at the feet of a Hanuman idol in front of a pavilion in Comilla town on the eighth day of Durga Puja. Police said that the accused youth is a vagabond. They can be seen in various mosques and temples.

Islamic fundamentalists have launched a series of attacks on Hindus across Bangladesh during the Sharad festival. Due to which the face of Hasina administration has burnt at the international level. Although he remained a mute spectator during the attack, the police of that country became restless. Around 500 terrorists were arrested from different places.
