IPS Ravi Sinha appoints as R&AW chief

New Delhi: Senior IPS officer of Chhattisgarh cadre Ravi Sinha was on Monday appointed as the new chief of the Research and Analytical Wing (RAW).

RAW is the external intelligence research wing of India. According to official information, Sinha will succeed Samant Kurnar Goyal on completion of his tenure on June 30. Ravi’s tenure will be of 2 years.

Sinha, a 1988 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, is currently serving as Special Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat. The order said that the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Sinha as Secretary, RAW, for a tenure of two years. The current Pradhan Samant Goyal is also an IPS of the Punjab cadre.
