Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers fans will be most disappointed as they have let go of David Warner as well. Rashid and Warner once formed the core of this side. He has retained Kane Williamson and gambled big on two long-term investments in Abdul Samad and Umran Malik. While the former may be a handy all-rounder, the latter has seen a pace of 150-plus in the recently concluded IPL.

Rajasthan Royals:

There was also some surprise from Rajasthan Royals where Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer were released. Instead the management picked Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler and young Mumbai batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal. While Stokes missed the majority of last season with mental health issues, Archer was also injured. The management had spent Rs 12.5 crore on the former in the last mega auction in 2018.

Sanju Samson :- INR 14 Cr, Jos Buttler – INR 10 Cr, Yashasvi Jaiswal – INR 4 Cr

Chennai Super Kings:

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings retained MS Dhoni, top performer Ruturaj Gaikwad, all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali. Ali was seeded over Faf du Plessis as the latter is 37; Also, Ali’s spin could come in handy in Chepauk. With the IPL 2021 trophy in the cabinet, the management was pretty confident about their top four retentions.

Royal Challengers Bangalore:

Even though Virat Kohli stepped down as their captain, Royal Challengers Bangalore retained the batting superstar, who has represented them since the league’s inception in 2008. Along with Kohli, Australia’s Glenn Maxwell and India’s Mohammad Siraj have three retentions by the franchise. Kohli now wants to play purely as a player and with ABD hanging up its shoes, it needs to be seen who the franchise goes after in the mega auction in January 2022. This means that they have released Yuzvendra Chahal and the top performer of IPL 2021 Harshal Patel.

Virat Kohli – 15 crores, Glenn Maxwell – 11 crores, Mohammad Siraj – 7 crores

Delhi Capitals:

Delhi have retained skipper Rishabh Pant which means Shreyas Iyer has been released. Apart from Pant, Prithvi Shaw was second on the list as Iyer was ruled out after wanting the captaincy. Kolkata Knight Riders,

KKR have retained Sunil Narine and Andre Russell. Surprisingly, both of them were retained in 2018 as well. However, KKR have also retained Venkatesh Iyer who had a stellar performance in IPL 2021. The all-rounder played a key role in the revival of KKR. He can also come down the order and double up as a medium pacer. The management has preferred mystery spinner Varun Chakraborty over Shubman Gill.

Andre Russell – INR 12 Cr, Varun Chakraborty – INR 8 Cr, Venkatesh Iyer – INR 8 Cr, Sunil Narine – INR 6 Cr

Punjab Kings:

With a plethora of young stars available in Shah Rukh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi, Punjab Kings preferred the uncapped Arshdeep Singh. Looking at his recent figures, the move seems redundant, but Mayank Agarwal likes to pick India Fast bowler Mohammed Shami certainly raises a few eyebrows. He also chose to ignore the Windies’ Nicholas Pooran who can be an effective T20 batsman. Punjab has been the least successful IPL team. His best performance came in 2014 where he finished as runner-up.

Mayank Agarwal – INR 14 Cr, Arshdeep Singh – INR 4 Cr
