On Tuesday, the eight existing IPL franchises will announce the list of retained and released players ahead of the mega auction.
Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, eight teams have been given a deadline of Tuesday afternoon to submit the names of the retained players. Each team is allowed to retain a maximum of four players from its current squad. This limit is one more than the limit allowed during the 2018 auction.
Out of four players, the team can retain a maximum of three Indian players and a maximum of two foreign cricketers. Notably, a team retaining four players will have to spend Rs 42 crore out of their total purse of Rs 90 crore. A team that retains three players will get a deduction of Rs 33 crore, while the team that has decided to retain only two players will have to pay Rs 24 crore.

Franchisees will see a cut of Rs 14 crore on retaining only one player, while an uncapped player will reduce a team by Rs 4 crore.
Also, this time teams will not be able to use Right to Match (RTM) cards during the auction.
