Will Jacks suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty, while Michael Bracewell went unsold in the IPL mini-auction last December.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have been hit with an injury two weeks before the start of the latest season of the IPL. England all-rounder Will Jacks, who was signed by RCB in the IPL mini-auction last December, has been ruled out of the entire season due to a hamstring injury.

Jaques was bought by the franchise for Rs 3.2 crore and would have been an ideal cover for all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. However, he recently injured himself during the 2nd ODI against Bangladesh and will have to miss IPL 2023 after subsequent scans and consultation with a specialist.

Jack made his T20I debut last September in Pakistan before making his Test bow against the same opponents later in December. He was handed his ODI debut against Bangladesh earlier this month.

The 24-year-old has scored 2802 runs in 109 T20Is at a strike rate of 157.94, including one century and 23 fifties. The injury blow could also dent his hopes of claiming a place in the Men’s ODI World Cup to be held in India later this year.

According to ESPNcricinfo, RCB have held discussions with New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell as a possible replacement for Jack. Bracewell had entered the IPL mini-auction but at his base price of Rs 1 crore, the Kiwi star found no takers.

RCB will begin their IPL 2023 campaign against five-time champions Mumbai Indians on April 2.
