IPL 2022: Will Definitely Take Seven Runs To Death In An Over, Says RCB Harshal Patel

Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer Harshal Patel said that he would happily take seven runs in an over in the death overs stage in the IPL 2022 match against Mumbai Indians. In the final over of Mumbai’s innings, Patel was close to being unstoppable due to his slow deliveries and mixing them with short or full lengths.

Against Mumbai’s best batsman, Suryakumar Yadav, Patel dismissed him from behind a long slow delivery, followed by another full slow delivery, which struck the right-hander. On the final ball, Yadav bowled a full toss at long-on and took Mumbai past 150, with Patel finishing with 2/23 in his four overs.

“I would definitely take seven (runs) in an over on death, especially against a quality batsman like Suriya. The balls were moving in the air and that’s why the way they came out made them a little more effective,” Patel said in a mid-innings conversation with broadcasters Star Sports.

In the 18th over, Patel dived off a slow full toss and hit Yadav near the chest, prompting Bangalore to review. But replays showed that the ball must have hit the leg-stump when the umpire had called.

When asked about his job of controlling the movement of the hand on the slow ball, Patel said, “All I have to do is control the movement of my hand. If you control your slow balls well, you will be able to control the hand movement.” But the batsmen can see it, so I keep my hand pace.”

Patel signed it saying that the dew would not be visible in the stadium due to gusts of wind.

He said, ‘The wicket is getting better and the score is not looking much. We just need to play well in the powerplays and not lose wickets early. It is not dew yet because a light wind is blowing on the ground. I don’t doubt there will be much dew.”
