Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Brendon McCullum believes Australian Test captain Pat Cummins will add an element of leadership to feed skipper Shreyas Iyer.
“So glad to have Pat back. He is going to add another layer of leadership in and around our captain Shreyas, who has been impressive as well. We’ve actually got some selection headaches. We have more players to choose from, which is a good problem and hopefully we will fix them,” McCullum told the official website of Kolkata Knight Riders.

“He’s one of those people who blends in so well in this environment and is a wonderful human being. Huss (David Hussey, mentor) was adamant he wanted something Australian, I’m obviously with a lot of Australians. Was a bit hesitant about that (laughs) but Pat is an absolute beauty, an amazing cricketer and a strong leader too,” he said.
Cummins, who arrived last week, is available for selection for his next match against Mumbai Indians and adds some selection headaches. The inclusion of Cummins will boost the in-form fast bowling that has helped Knight Riders win two out of three matches.
Knight Riders are gearing up to take on Mumbai Indians on Wednesday (April 6) and even though the Rohit Sharma-led side is going through two defeats in as many matches, McCullum is not giving the five-time IPL champions a discount. .
