IPL 2022 Retention: Potential Player Retention Will Cost – What We Know So Far

The Indian Premier League is all set to expand from the next season with the addition of two new teams – Lucknow and Ahmedabad. This will add extra competitiveness as the previous teams fight against new contenders. The mega auction will take place before the next season, giving the new franchise a fair chance to have a quality team. Ahead of the auction, the old eight franchises face a difficult task – player retention.

According to the rules, each franchise can retain a maximum of 4 players. Of these, a maximum of two can be foreign cricketers and only three Indians will be allowed to retain before the auction.

The BCCI has announced that all the franchises will have to submit the list of retained players by 30 November 2021.
