“This season is really special for us. We have been able to play good cricket and give some happy moments to the fans. All the youngsters, the seniors played well as a team, I am proud of my team,” Samson said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
He said the management knew that the key to the trophy was a group of effective fast bowlers. So he invested heavily in the likes of Trent Boult, the famous Krishna and Obed McCoy.

“We believe that quality bowlers make you win the tournament. That’s why we invested in them. With Jose playing the full 20 overs, my role was a bit different. It was a good season for me, good 30’s and 40’s and 20’s. But there is much to learn. And many congratulations to Gujarat Titans.” Samson added.

After posting a tremendous total, Rajasthan had to make a special effort with the ball to get back into the game.

The quick pair of Trent Boult and the famous Krishna produced a scintillating powerplay to reduce Gujarat to 31 for two with Wriddhiman Saha (5) and Matthew Wade (8) back in the dugout.

Got Krishna to seam back from good length to breach Saha’s defense and crash into the stumps.

Boult, who also bowled a maiden over in his well-mannered spell, removed Wade. If Yuzvendra Chahal had taken a simple catch of Gill off Boult in the first over of the innings, Gujarat would have gone down by three in the powerplay.

Hardik and Gill struggled to get boundaries but never felt overly pressured as the asking rate remained very under control.

R Ashwin is introduced in the 12th over and Hardik (34 off 30) decides to go after him, collecting a four and a six off successive deliveries to form a 50-run partnership with Gill and give Gujarat 12 overs I took two wickets for 77 runs.
