India batsman Shreyas Iyer has said that he feels wonderful to be a part of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) franchise and cannot wait to win a gold medal in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.IPL) 2022.
Iyer recently led Team India to a record 3-0 T20I series win against Sri Lanka and was adjudged the Player of the Series after scoring 204 runs in three matches.
“Yes, I was watching the auctions and KKR went for me from the start. Some other big franchises were also coming along and I remember the fight going on. We, all the members of our (India) team sat together And watching the auction on TV.
My heart was beating, and I couldn’t control my emotions. I was trying to act relaxed, but you know, inside out, I was feeling a little nervous,” KKR’s official website quoted Iyer as saying.
“The feeling that KKR finally got to me was amazing. Looking at the rich history and coming into the KKR setup, I am really proud,” he added.
Shreyas Iyer was bought by KKR for Rs 12.25 crore during the mega auction held in Bengaluru. He was later made the captain of the franchise.
“I want to tell the fans that I’m really looking forward to donning the purple and gold. Really can’t wait to wear it. I’m really looking forward to being on the field representing KKR this time around.” Because I’ve always been on the opposite end and I could feel the crowd cheering for his team,” Iyer said.
“It will really give me goosebumps and I’m really looking forward to that excitement and at the end of the day to see us win the championship for you. Corbo Lorbo Jeetbo,” he said.
The IPL 2022 edition will be played from March 26 to May 29. KKR are expected to lock horns against CSK in the first match of the tournament.
