IPL 2022 | Brett Lee advises out-of-form Virat Kohli to take a break: Just walk away and refresh your mind

Former Australia pacer Brett Lee has advised in-form Virat Kohli to take a break from the game, refresh his mind and work on a few things. Notably, Kohli did not look impressive in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 as the former RCB captain scored only 341 runs in 16 matches at an average of 22.73.

Kohli’s average IPL 2022 campaign came to an end after a seven-wicket loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore by Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifier in Ahmedabad on Friday.

“Do I say it’s a matter of concern, I do. I would like him (Kohli) to score more runs for sure,” Lee was quoted as saying by news agency PTI on Saturday.

In the second qualifier, Kohli chased down a fast, rising delivery from pacer Pramak Krishna, wide outside the off-stump, to hand a simple catch to Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson behind the stumps.

“The hardest part is when Virat Kohli doesn’t score runs, usually the team doesn’t do well. When we see Kohli had that purple patch when he scored 800-900 in that season (IPL 2016) His team (Royal Challengers Bangalore) did very well. We want more from Kohli.

“A strong Kohli is a strong team. Unfortunately, he missed the semi-final, he could not get his team to cross the boundary of his bat, scoring less than 10 runs.

“Maybe (this) is a chance for Kohli to go back and work on some things and maybe take a break from cricket. Just get away and refresh your mind,” said Lee, the brand ambassador of the company. Sportsbet.io’.

Around this time last year, Lee picked Kohli and Australia seamer Pat Cummins as the best batsmen and bowlers in the world.

“When you look at recent greats, it’s hard to look back on Virat Kohli,” said Lee, his favorite Test batsman in an interview with the ICC.

This Indian Premier League has seen the rise of young fast bowlers like Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Kamran Malik, Mukesh Choudhary, Arshdeep Singh and the 45-year-old Lee, who has 310 Test wickets, believed that it would work then. May come when the country plays in the T20 World Cup in Australia.

“The two Khan boys (Mohsin and Avesh) have real talent. The one thing Indian cricket is producing is a good list of fast bowlers. I love that.

“They have good spin options as well, but of course if you are looking at the T20 World Cup in Australia, you need players who can bowl fast on bouncy wickets,” Lee said.

One of the biggest discoveries of IPL is Malik, who consistently bowled at 150 kmph and took 22 wickets for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“Look, he has been fantastic. What Umran Malik does is pure pace. I wish him well and I hope he gets a chance to play in the longer format of the game as well,” Lee said.
