Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant was named the captain of the franchise in the absence of injured Shreyas Iyer. Fortunately, Pant played the captain’s role well and ensured that his team topped the IPL 14 points table in the first leg of the tournament. Delhi Capitals currently have 12 points from eight matches so far.

Finally, when Iyer returns to the Delhi squad for IPL 2021 Phase 2, the team management will have a tough time deciding who should be handed the captaincy responsibility between Pant and Iyer.

The second leg of IPL 2021 will resume in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 19. The final of IPL 2021 Phase 2 will be played on October 15. The first match of IPL 14 Phase 2 will be played between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in Dubai. Delhi Capitals will play their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Dubai on 22nd September.
