Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan It took 47 and 42 respectively to take Delhi Capitals home with a win. DC Captain Rishabh Pant Also played an important flamboyant innings of 35 * runs in 21 balls.
For SRH, Khaleel Ahmed And Rashid Khan took one wicket each. With this win, Delhi has moved up to the top of the IPL points table and has moved past Chennai Super Kings to the second spot. And here defeat means SRH Playoff hopes are almost bleak now as they are at the bottom of the table with one win from eight matches.
Chasing a modest target of 134 runs, DC got off to a good start and scored 39 runs for the loss of just one wicket in the powerplay. Khaleel Ahmed took the wicket of Prithvi Shaw 11(8) in the third over after Williamson took a brilliant catch from the Indian opener.
Shreyas Iyer and Shikhar Dhawan continued their aggressive batting in the next overs. The duo completed a decent half-century partnership between them as Delhi reached 70/1. Soon, Rashid Khan did the trick for SRH in the 11th over as the Afghan bowler removed the dangerous looking Shikhar Dhawan (42).
DC skipper Rishabh Pant joined Iyer on the pitch and wasted no time in showing his aggressive intent as the duo continued to hit boundaries whenever they got a chance. The former DC captain and the current skipper added 67 runs as Capitals chased down the target with ease in 17.5 overs.
Earlier, Enrique Nortje and Kagiso Rabada acted with the ball as Delhi Capitals (DC) restricted Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to 134/9. Enrique Nortje (2-12), Kagiso Rabada (3-37), and Axar Patel (2-21) stunned the opposition with their pace, accuracy and length. For, SRH Abdul Samad and Rashid Khan scored 28 and 22 respectively.
Opting to bat first, SRH got off to a poor start when their star overseas opener David Warner went back to the pavilion in the very first over of the innings. The South African paceman dismissed Warner on pace and the Australian was dismissed for a three-ball duck.
SRH Captain Kane Williamson, and Wriddhiman Co: He managed to gain momentum in the match but the opposition bowlers did not give him any respite. With constant pressure at one end, Saha grabbed the opportunity against Kagiso Rabada and welcomed the South African bowler with a six in the fifth over. But the SA bowler had the last laugh as Saha went back to the dressing room after being beaten for speed with a short ball.
After the first powerplay, SRH was 32/2. In the ninth over of the innings, Marcus Stoinis was injured and walked off the field. In the very next over, SRH captain Williamson was caught twice by Axar Patel at the hands of Hetmyer after being lucky twice in the match.
Manish Pandey soon went to the pavilion behind his captain after Rabada was caught and bowled in the next over. With runs short of runs for the team in Orange, wickets kept falling as Nortje dismissed Kedar Jadhav lbw in the 13th over.
In the 16th over, Axar Patel dismissed Jason Holder (10). In the 19th over, Kagiso Rabada dismissed the dangerous looking Abdul Samad (28) but gave away 14 runs. Rashid Khan (22) played an important cameo for SRH before being run out in the last over of the innings. Sandeep Sharma (0) was run out on the last ball of the innings.
