iOS 16 set to release on September 12 – Times of India

After months of beta testing, iOS 16 is releasing next week. iOS 16 was first introduced in June at the WWDC 2022, and the public beta was released a month later in July. And like the past years, the iOS 16 will release on a Monday, i.e., September 12.
iOS 16 does not bring any major changes to what has already been added in the last few iterations. One of the biggest changes is to the lock screen, which can now be personalised with different photos, fonts and widgets. The notifications now appear at the bottom and can be stacked or hidden. There is also a Live Notifications, showing real-time updates on the lock screen, but that will be coming sometime later this year.
The Focus Mode on iOS 16 has been improved, and one can connect a specific lock screen with Focus Mode. The update also introduces Focus filters for apps.
With iOS 16, users can now edit or undo a message on the Messages. SharePlay has been extended to Messages so that one can chat while listening to the same music with shared playback controls. The Mail has also been updated with features like undo send, scheduled send and more.
There have been updates to the Photos app, including a new shared library. The live text feature has been extended to videos. Meanwhile, the Health & Fitness app has also been revamped with some new features. And there are a lot more small changes across the software.
The new iPhone 14 lineup – iPhone 14, 14 Max, iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max – comes with iOS 16 out of the box. Meanwhile, older iPhones till iPhone 8 will be receiving the iOS 16 as a free upgrade on September 12.
WatchOS 9 is also releasing on the same day, i.e., September 12. However, iPadOS 16 has been delayed until next month.
