The CBI has registered a preliminary inquiry against Indian Olympic Association President Narinder Batra for alleged misappropriation of Rs 35 lakh of Hockey India Fund, officials said on Wednesday. The central probe agency had received a complaint that Batra used Hockey India funds for personal gains.
It comes against the backdrop of a war between Batra and Hockey India after a brief communication was sent to the sports federation questioning the performance of the men’s hockey team in the tournament.
