Int’l Conference For Sugar Industries In Egypt From Feb 11 | Kanpur News – Times of India

Kanpur: National Sugar Institute, Kanpur is organizing an international conference for sugar and integrated industries in association with Assiut University, Egypt at Luxor (Egypt) from February 11 to February 14.
This is for the first time that the NSI is organizing an international conference in a country other than India. Necessary approval for organizing the same has been accorded by the Government of India.
Assiut University is ranked 6th and 18th in Egypt and the Arabian countries respectively.
During the four-day conference, besides NSI director Prof Narendra Mohan, eminent experts Gillian Eggleston, Audubon Sugar Institute, Louisiana, USA, Melvin Bolton, United State department of Agriculture, Francisco Guilherme Nastari, strategic advisory director, DATAGRO, Brazil and Wirat Vanichsriratna, Kasetsart University, Thailand will deliver lectures in the plenary session.
In addition to it, more than hundred research papers on the topics of sugarcane and sugar beet cultivation, processing, factory engineering and by-product utilization will be presented by the technologists and engineers from across the globe.
“We expect more than 500 delegates from more than 30 sugar producing countries to participate in the conference. The world’s renowned machinery manufacturers, technology providers and process chemical manufacturers will also participate in the Expo which is being organized during the conference”, said Prof Narendra Mohan.
“We have already received confirmations from renowned companies like Schmidt & Haensch, Germany, Kebo Specialty Chemicals, USA, BMA, Germany, Beta Seed, Germany, Suviron Equipment Pvt. Ltd. and Shrijee Process Engineering Works Ltd, India and many others”, he further said.
The technical deliberations on various topics during the conference and exposure at concurrent expo will provide updates about the latest trends and technological developments. From India’s context, it will provide ample opportunity to the delegates to get better insight about sugar beet cultivation and processing as the country is trying to explore potential of ethanol production from sugar beet”, Prof Mohan added.
Indian companies will get a chance to explore markets as it will provide an opportunity to the institute to showcase its activities and seek tie-ups for organizing training programmes or rendering technical consultancy, he said.
