International Yoga Day 2022: The International Day of Yoga, observed every year on 21 June, aims to raise awareness about the benefits of practicing yoga. PM during the inauguration of the 69th session of the General Assembly Narendra Modi Proposed a draft resolution for the establishment of International Day of Yoga. This proposal was approved by more than 170 countries.

PM Modi called for celebrating 21 June as International Yoga Day as it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and holds cultural significance in different parts of the world.

Every year Yoga Day is celebrated under a different theme and this year this special day will be celebrated under the theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’. This year’s theme was chosen after much deliberation and consultation, PM Modi announced in his monthly Mann Ki Baat address.

PM Modi had said that ‘Yoga for Humanity’ aptly portrays how it served humanity in mitigating sufferings during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. As our Prime Minister Modi has always believed in the power of Yoga, here are some thoughts that he has shared in the past.
