International Yoga Day 2022: There has been a huge jump in the popularity of yoga. It has become the new workout regime all over the world. One of the many benefits of yoga is that it is a very binding experience when performed in a group. Doing yoga asanas with family members has many benefits, such as strengthening the bond to help each other reach their fitness goals.

In fact, during the peak of COVID-19 in 2020, the theme of International Yoga Day focused on ‘Yoga at Home and Yoga with Family’. Yoga can enhance the overall health of the family at the same time. Here are some yoga asanas that have been specially designed to perform best when performed with someone:

This pose strengthens the leg muscles and greatly benefits the alignment of the spine.

how to perform

  1. This pose requires you and any other family member to stand next to each other with the head and back straight.
  2. Hold each other’s hands or put your arms around each other’s waists (to maintain balance). Shift your weight to the inside foot (closest to your partner’s foot).
  3. Now bend the other leg and place the foot on the inner thigh or calf of the leg on which you are standing. Switch sides and repeat.

This is a balancing pose that strengthens the core and is performed while seated.

how to perform

  1. Friends, sit facing each other and join your legs. Hold hands, and make sure your feet are between your arms.
  2. Bend your knees slightly. One leg at a time and slowly lift one leg off the floor followed by the other leg.

how to perform

  1. Stand on all fours with your arms shoulder-width apart and palms firmly on the floor, and knees hip-width apart.
  2. Now, lift your knees off the floor until you are able to straighten your legs.

  1. Stand straight with your feet together, arms at your sides, and look straight ahead. Inhale as you raise your arms above your head. Join your palms.
  2. Now extend one leg forward and keep your foot firmly on the floor.
  3. While stretching, bend the leg.
  4. While exhaling, straighten the legs and bring the hands down.

  1. Lie on your back. Take a deep breath, bend your knees and bring them up to your chest.
  2. Spread your knees slightly, and raise your legs to keep your ankles directly over your knees.
  3. Reach the outside of each knee and hold it.
  4. Now stretch your spine. Exhale deeply while coming back to the normal position.
