Intel’s Raja Koduri is leaving the company after 5 years

Koduri has previously been part of the graphics team at Apple and AMD and now has his eye on building the future.

Raja is planning his future at the Intel graphics unit without the expertise and guidance of Koduri, who has decided to leave the company and pursue different ambitions.

Koduri has been an intrinsic part of the graphics unit at Intel and his five-year stint has come to an end as he focuses on building his own generative AI startup. Pat Gelsinger, CEO, Intel shared the update through a series of tweets, where he mentioned that Koduri will be leaving Intel later this month.

Thank you @RajaXg for your many contributions to Intel tech & architecture – especially w/ high-performance graphics that helped bring 3 new product lines to market in ’22,” Gelsinger tweeted about Koduri. Shared different words.

Koduri responded to the note by sharing his own update following his tenure at Intel, where he was instrumental in building the last few generations of Intel graphics units. “Starting a new chapter in my life, as mentioned below, doing a software startup. Will have more to share in the coming weeks,” Koduri signed off with the tweet.

Koduri was bought by Intel from AMD in 2017, which was considered a big move for the chip giant at the time. He was also a core part of the team that developed the new Intel Arc Graphics team. Having said that, Intel has found it difficult to compete with AMD and Nvidia in the PC graphics segment, where the two brands have continued to develop and introduce compelling products that deliver superior performance for PCs.

Intel has seen a number of senior executives leave for new pastures and Koduri’s departure is likely to be filled by someone with a larger position at the company.
