The Sangh team camped for the last 5 days in Chitrakoot, situated on the border of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The churning of the Sangh was going on here. To know the result of Manthan, when Bhaskar reached here, police barricading and officers’ questions started from 3 km away from Manthan Bhavan. The same thing was being repeated again and again between the questions – nothing will be found here, come back.

But, it was not possible to go empty handed after coming about 700 km away from Delhi. I remembered the incident of Rama’s story in my mind, when the monkey army wrote Ram’s name on the stones and threw it into the sea to build a bridge to Lanka. On some similar lines, we started connecting from one thread to another and the issues raised in this highly confidential brainstorming started coming to the fore.

We came to know that the next year’s assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and the issue of Ramjanmabhoomi dispute remained in the churning. There was also a discussion on the suggestions of many laws and policies for the central and state governments. A slogan also emerged regarding conversion – Chadar and Father Mukt Bharat. But no one has officially released this slogan yet.

Read the inside story of this super secret churning along with our journey…

On the night of 8th July at around 8.15 hrs, our train was about to reach an ashram located very close to Kamadgiri mountain in Chitrakoot after passing Babaru block of Banda in just some 20-25 minutes but in less than half an hour to complete. This journey turned into a struggle of about 2 hours.

The Muhurta was of Amavasya and a crowd of Sanghis had gathered in Chitrakoot and the police was very alert from above. A team of police stopped our car before entering Chitrakoot. When the interrogation started, he clearly said, there is an order from above that the outside press should not be allowed to come to Chitrakoot. We asked why? So Captain Sahib’s reply was that at this time the security system of Chitrakoot is on high alert. We can’t take any risk.

When we asked whether this security cordon was created because of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh meeting? So said that madam you are sensible, ‘hyper-secret’ meeting of the Sangh is going on. The instructions are to keep an eye on the external media. It was our turn to be surprised at this answer. When it was told to him that the bus was going for the purpose of staying in an ashram. We are not going to the meeting place. On this, Captain Sahib said, ‘That ashram is very close to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Research Foundation.’

Is the union more important than the country’s parliament? We were never stopped like this in Delhi, 12-13 kms from Parliament House? Well, a local person who was with me called Swamiji of the ashram where we were supposed to go. Swamiji spoke to the captain. The captain said, ‘Okay you can go.’ Our journey stopped because of the meeting of the ‘Sangh’ and progressed because of a ‘Saint’.

As our journey to Chitrakoot progresses, the layers of connection between the saint and the Sangh will also open up. At the moment it was very important for us to reach that ashram. It was 9.30 in the night. Hunger was at its peak. Looks like now the obstacle will end and will reach the ashram directly. Then another police circle stopped us. The questioning took place, then the same question-and-answer process started. When told that the talk has been done with the captain, the green signal was given to go.

After about 30 minutes we had reached an ashram just adjacent to the most sacred ‘Kamadgiri Parvat’ of Chitrakoot city surrounded by pictures of mountains all around. When he reached the ashram at quarter to eleven, there was a crowd all around. On the occasion of ‘Amavasya’, a crowd was gathering to circumambulate the Kamadgiri mountain, the shrine of Rama. Corona protocol was missing. Modi ji’s mantra – the mask and the distance of two feet had disappeared. While entering Banda, the corona protocol was just starting to break. Seeing this ocean of faith, our patience and confidence started to waver. We had understood, not corona protocol, but now only God will save us.

I danced in front of me in that scene from the Hollywood movie ‘Hurt Locker’, in which a bomb squad arriving to defuse the bomb takes off their high-protected dress and throws them when their hands fall on a wire buried under the ground. Huh. There were not one or two, but hundreds of time bomb mats. His team standing behind says, what are you doing, don’t play with security, he says, if even a bomb explodes here, what are you, the whole city will turn into ashes. This is not a dress, now if we have to save then only God will save us.

Our visit was at the time of pandemic, so it would have been unfair to proceed without mentioning it, because the Corona period will be remembered in history with horrifying pictures.

The picture is of Kamtanath temple complex. Seeing the crowd here, it can be guessed that this influx of faith can become a super spreader of Corona.

Well, the fear of infection, the secret meeting of the union on that. With this secrecy now the mind was in doubt, will we return empty handed? My mind started sinking. The next day I called up a senior RSS worker based in Delhi. Sir, I am in Chitrakoot. The answer was, ‘Who called you? I think you should go back. You won’t find anything there. No one will meet you. This meeting of the Sangh is very confidential. I said, let’s see. Ringed the phone to local journalists, got the answer, ‘Ma’am, nothing will be found. There is no order for the media to burst even close to the meeting place. It is pointless to go there. The problem was that we had come about 700 kilometers away. Returning was not both possible and worthwhile.

He strengthened the mind and meditated on Rama and said, ‘Deen Dayal Biridu Sambhari, Harahu Nath Mam Sankat Bhari’. At around 10 pm, we had reached Deen Dayal Upadhyay Research Institute. The police were on alert. There was a barricading of the police for about 3 kilometers from the meeting building. The local people were also facing questioning in commuting to their homes. The security was so much that even Parinda could not kill her. Police cars were passing continuously. When I wanted to take a photo from my mobile, the police team objected, saying- ‘There is an order from above that the photo should not be taken here.’

In Chitrakoot, there was such barricading at every intersection, every turn of the street. Everyone was being questioned, even if he was a local resident.

Thought media should be cited, but it was not possible to go ahead with this journey. There was a student of research along with him, he suggested that where the meeting is being held, there is also a health center of that institute. You can go inside on the pretext of taking medicine. He entered inside with his own identity. That fellow made a free medicine prescription, so I started taking some pictures. A policeman said that the order not to let the photo be taken is from ‘up’. He snatched my mobile. I said that those who are with us have to take medicine from Arogya Dham and I am a tourist. I didn’t know that there was a secret meeting going on here. Well, the other cop let me go.

Is the Sangh really only discussing about the organization, then why so much secrecy? The organization issued only two press releases during this meeting, on 8 July and 12 July. Their bottom line was that the Sangh is discussing some activities of the organization along with reviving the closed branches during the Corona period and expanding its role in the third wave. Was that all the union was doing? If so, why so much distance from the media? Why is the security cover so tight?

Well, after all this struggle, we got the first news. The news was, ‘Sangh’s dissatisfaction with the appearance of Champat Rai and the explanation given during that hearing.’ After ringing the phone for two days and sending messages, a media publicist of the Sangh meeting gave an appointment. When we reached outside the research institute at 6 pm on July 11, we had to struggle to get inside.

The time for the meeting was fixed, but first we were stopped by the security cordon police. Ordered to park our car away. Started saying that you cannot go inside at any cost. We will lose our job. Media is strictly prohibited. No media person can be called here for a meeting. In the meantime, we had called up those union office bearers twice, but they were not able to pick up the phone as they attended the meeting. What shall we do now? The policemen were thrashing our car with a stick and reprimanding it for moving forward from there.

When a police officer saw us fighting with the police, he stopped the car and understood the matter. When he inquired at the main gate, a kilometer away from there, we found our name registered there. A Sangh worker was taking me to that place. Although he also said that madam is not going to get anything here. There is a very sensitive meeting going on here.

From the main gate to the Manthan Bhawan, about a kilometer long way, there were inquiries from place to place and the entry of media was completely banned here.

When asked if you know what the issues are, he said, ‘We are very small workers. Consider it a courtier. So what seems like UP elections, religion change or something? On this question, he simply said that it is anticipated that this meeting will affect many policies of the government. In the meantime, we also met those saints, from whom the top officials of the Sangh were meeting.

Our hands were not empty on July 11, the day before the return, but what was found that day was perhaps the most secret agenda of the secret meeting. A union source showed us his phone. He said that you can understand the bottom line of the meeting of the Sangh in just one line. It was written in the message of the phone that now we have to make ‘Chadar Mukt Bharat and Father Mukt Bharat’. By nightfall, we reached to meet Congress MLA from Satna and PWD Minister of Chitrakoot and BJP MLA Chandrika Prasad Upadhyay. During this, another source of the Sangh also met.

He also started showing glimpses of the meeting with the slogan ‘Chadar’ and ‘Father Mukt’. Congress MLA Nilanshu Chaturvedi showed us a letter and said, ‘The place where this meeting is going on falls in our assembly seat. We have sought an appointment with Bhagwat ji. Answer not received yet. Don’t even expect to meet.’

In the meeting with Chitrakoot BJP MLA Chandrika Prasad, 4 tales of conversion were heard. And he also told with sadness that if Indian culture is to be saved, then the war against religious conversion has to be started. If you examine the profile of Chandrika Prasad, then you will know that he has been an old and very strong worker of the Sangh.

Chitrakoot BJP MLA Chandrika Prasad Upadhyay also spoke of protecting Indian culture. Chandrika has been an old and very strong worker of the Sangh.

The first President of India has also raised questions on the extreme secrecy of the Union

The first President of India, Dr Rajendra Prasad wrote a letter to Sardar Patel on 12 December 1948. He wrote, ‘This organization has no constitution. Its goals and objectives are not properly defined. Only certain people are taken into confidence. No record is kept of the actions of the organization. There is no register for this. RSS as an organization maintains adequate secrecy. Technically it is difficult to prove that Godse is a member of the RSS, but the government should explain why the organization was banned if the links between Godse and the Sangh were not found?’

This question of Rajendra Prasad is as fresh today as it was at that time. Why are the meetings of the Sangh so secretive? The question is also that why are the meetings of the Sangh given such a tight security cover? Does the organization really only discuss its activities in meetings?
