Ahmednagar district administration in Maharashtra has constituted a three-member inquiry committee after an audio clip in which a woman revenue officer was heard complaining of harassment by some people, including a local politician.
On Saturday, District Collector Rajendra Bhosale said that it is a women’s inquiry panel. In the viral clip, Parner’s Tehsildar Jyoti Deore can be heard alleging mental harassment by a senior officer and an unnamed “public representative” and also talking of ending his life.
Deore had also written a letter to the State Women’s Commission on August 16 making the same allegation. Sources said the district administration had recently ordered a departmental inquiry against him after some complaints and sent an adverse report to the divisional commissioner of Nashik.
Collector Bhosale said, “After the women commission wrote to us, a committee of women officers – two deputy collectors and one officer of the rank of tehsildar – has been constituted to probe the matter.”
